🎭Thomas R. Helton Elementary is excited to welcome The Opera of the Plains on Thursday March 12th. 🎭
"The performance is Little Red Riding Hood, with music from Orphée aux enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld) by Jacques Offenbach. This is the operetta from which the famous can-can music comes. The text is an original libretto (written by Dr. Brian Kuhnert of Opera of the Plains) based most closely on the Brothers Grimm version of the fairy tale. The performance will be roughly 40 minutes in length and will finish with a talkback session in which the students will get to chat with the cast about the story, the process of learning the opera, training to be singers, etc.

They had to design a wearable costume using only trash bags, paper towels, and tape.
We think they did a fantastic job with their costumes!
